WHAT A WAY TO END THE YEAR!
“In many ways, swimming could be considered an individual sport, but these swimmers have worked hard as a team and it has paid off,” Monticello Marlins’ head coach Taylor James said after the Marlins successfully defended their South Arkansas Swim Association summer-only championship in Warren two weeks ago.
Four of those Marlins—Garrett Carter, Allie Hall, Landon Reid and Dylan Snuffer (out of the 21 that qualified)—enjoyed that success en route to the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympics Swimming Championships, which began last Thursday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center at Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C.
There, all four—as well as sisters Grace and Ashtyn Smith of Monticello, who swim for the El Dorado HealthWorks’ Fitness year-round club—individually represented their city well among the more than 500 competitors present.
