Robert E. “Bob”Cockrell
Robert E. “Bob” Cockrell, 90, of Monticello passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Baptist Health Hospital in Little Rock. He was born October 14, 1927 in the Green Hill community to the late Earl Cockrell and Vera Ray Cockrell.
He was owner/operator of Bob’s Shoes, a World War II United States Army Veteran and a longtime member of Second Baptist Church where he served as usher and Sunday school secretary for 40 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, and will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Pauline Gillespie Cockrell of Monticello; two sons, Mike (Sandy) Cockrell of Rogers and Randy (Gail) Cockrell of Monticello; one daughter, Paula (Jeff) Vickers of Peach Tree City, Ga.; two grandsons, Craig (Jacqueline) Cockrell of Cave Springs and Jonathan Vickers of Peach Tree City; four granddaughters, Brooke (Ben) Wyatt of Frisco, Texas, Sara (Collin) Young of Leawood, Kan., Amy (Patrick) Mitchell of Springfield, Mo. and Joni (Stephen) Elliott of Del Ray Beach, Fla.; 11 great-grandchildren, Macy, Ava and Aubrey Wyatt, Hayes Cockrell, Ellia, Marys, Taj Mitchell, Ensley Young, Hadley and J.T. Vickers and Maggie Kaye Elliott.
Funeral services were Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ray Hearron officiating. Burial followed in Green Hill Cemetery.
