James Monroe Dodson Sr.
James Monroe Dodson Sr. passed away December 30, 2018 at Delta Memorial Hospital in Dumas. He was born April 24, 1935 in Clark County to the late Rufus Earl and Della Crews Dodson.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Pete Dodson; a sister, Daisy Mae Russell; and three infant siblings.
He was a retired construction worker, United States Army Veteran and member of the American Legion. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife, Constance Miller Dodson of Monticello; four sons, James M. (Cindy) Dodson Jr. and Donald Earl Dodson, both of Monticello, George Edward (Ada) Dodson of Woolmarket, Miss. and Dennis Wayne (Amber) Dodson of Corpus Christi, Texas; two daughters, Della Fern (Darrell) Davis of Oklahoma City and Susan Ann (Dennis) Bates of Trenton, Fla.; two brothers, Earl David (Myrtle) Dodson of Grapevine, Texas and Johnny Wayne (Alice) Dodson of Lodi, Calif.; four sisters, Joan Keel, Betty (Lorenz) Berry and Faye (Claude) Beedle, all of Monticello, and Nellie Jean (Wayne) Collins of Johnson City, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Jeri Dodson of Oregon; 23 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial following in Gaster Hill Cemetery. Visitation was Friday evening at the funeral home.
