Some county employees receive pay raises from Quorum Court

Some Drew County employees benefited from, of all things, an ordinance that was passed by the Drew County Quorum Court Monday night to purchase two garbage trucks.
“The ordinance includes some pay slot increases,” Drew County Judge Robert Akin said after the regularly scheduled meeting.
“It’s a great way to start the new year.”
In an unrelated matter, the QC also decided to remain with Air Vac for county employees and elected officials. Air Vac is a helicopter ambulance service that serves the Southeast portion of Arkansas.
“As members we pay $50 per person that participates,” Akin explained, “with the county paying $25 and the employee paying the other portion.
“It allows our employees and anyone living in their household to be air-lifted, if the need arises, for what their insurance companies pays.”
In other business, the court heard from Drew Memoral Health System Chief Executive Officer Scott Barrilleaux concerning the influenza outbreak in Southeast Arkansas, as well as receiving a financial report from County Treasurer Charlie Searcy.
