Area experiences two homicides within 12 hours
Recently, Drew County experienced two homicides within 12 hours of each other.
Arnold LaRon White Sr., 55, of Monticello was arrested and charged with manslaughter in the death of Harold Miller Jr., 54, also of Monticello.
Monticello Police Department officers responded to a shooting incident around noon on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 513 West Shelton Street where the officers found Miller dead.
Miller’s body was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
White appeared in Drew County Circuit Court Thursday morning where a bond of $30,000 was set.
In an unrelated event, a Wilmar man was shot and killed around 11 p.m. that same day at his home.
Christon Sheets, 20, was shot twice in the abdomen, by two men who were at his home earlier the same day, and died later at Drew Memorial Health System.
According to Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober, Jarell Terry, 25, of McGehee was arrested last Friday by U.S. Marshalls in Pulaski County. He is currently being held at the Drew County Detention Facility. He was taken for his first appearance in Drew County Circuit Court on Monday and is being held without bond.
In the early hours Tuesday, Dominez Figures, 24, of McGehee, was arrested in Dermott in connection with the Wilmar shooting, too, Gober said.
Figures turned himself in to Dermott police, Gober said, after his mother escorted him from Pine Bluff to Desha County. Gober said Figures is now being held in the Ashley County Detention Center. No court date has been set.
